Offered here is an authentic Antique Vapo-Cresolene Vaporizer, a fascinating piece of Victorian-era medical history. Popular in the late 19th and early 20th century, the Vapo-Cresolene device was marketed as a remedy for respiratory ailments including asthma, bronchitis, and whooping cough.

This ornate example features:
• Decorative cast metal frame with scrollwork detailing • Upper medicated reservoir cup (with ventilation holes) • Red glass oil lamp base (replacement – not original to the piece)

The oil lamp heats the upper cup, allowing medicated Cresolene solution (not included) to vaporize into the air. These were often referred to as “quack medicine” devices today, but remain highly collectible for their unique place in medical and advertising history.

Please note: The oil lamp is not original to the piece. It functions as a display component and heating source but is a later replacement.

Approximate Age: Circa 1890–1915 (Late Victorian / Early Edwardian Era)

Condition: • Visible age-appropriate patina and oxidation to metal • Wear and discoloration inside medicated cup from past use • Replacement red glass oil lamp • No cracks observed in glass • Untested for modern use; recommended for display only

Please review photos carefully as they are part of the description.

Measurements: 6.25” x 4”
