This is a gorgeous advertising piece that was designed by German Graphic Artist Herbert Thannhaeuser.
The label features a lovely art deco style Japanese Landscape Scene. The label reads J.L. Rex, Berlin W8 Mohfenstr.
The colors are lovely misted shades of ivory, green, gold and black.

We think this must be some sort of prototype for an advertising campaign. Very cool!
The piece has been affixed to a black background and has been set inside a brown mat. this is also framed under glass and the frame includes a wire for hanging.
in the frame this measures 17” x 14”
The piece is a little crooked in the frame. We have not attempted to try to straighten, we are selling as found.
The piece is in overall vintage condition. The crane shows some signs of wear and paint loss. The back background has some staple marks at the top.
A wonderful piece for a collector or a a gift graphic artist.
Herbert Thannhaeuser was born on December 2, 1898 in Berlin and died April 12, 1963 in Kleinmachnow. He studied as a porcelain painter, then worked for Ullstein as an advertising artist. Graphic designer for various Berlin agencies. 1925: became artistic adviser for Max Krause and several printers. From 1933 to 1940: artistic adviser for the Schelter Giesecke type foundry in Leipzig. From 1951: artistic manager for VEB Typoart in Dresden. Herbert Thannhaeuser created the font . Magna™ is part of the Linotype Library.
